In terms of security, the Fort Knox Out-Swing 8248 Vault Door has a 1-3/4″ reinforced fire door constructed with a Quadrafold door frame, with deep recessed door, 3/8″ steel plate, one layer of fireboard and 10 gauge reinforcement. On the door of the Fort Knox 8248 Out Swing Vault Door lies an UL Approved Mechanical dial lock with optional electronic lock upgrade available. Both mechanical dial and electronic lock is protected by a drill stop hard plate with recessed multi-bearings.
After the correct combination is entered on the 8248 vault door and you begin to turn the beautiful 14K gold five-spoke handle, you’ll start feeling the 19 1.5″ chrome-plated locking bolts retract.
Once fully inside, you can close the vault door completely as Fort Knox intuitively added an interior release door handle that will allow exiting even if the door is closed.
